F/A-18C Hornet

U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (Aug. 3, 2010) An F/A-18C Hornet, assigned to the Ragin' Bulls of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 37, ignites afterburners as it launches from aircraft carrier USS Harry S. F/A-18C Hornet


AFGHANISTAN (Nov. 7, 2007) - An F/A-18C Hornet, attached to the "Knighthawks" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 136, tests its flare countermeasures system during sunset, just prior to beginning a Close Air Support mission in support of ground forces in Afghanistan. VFA-136 is assigned to Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1 embarked aboard USS Enterprise (CVN 65). Enterprise Carrier Strike Group is on a scheduled deployment in support of maritime operations and the global war on terrorism.

F/A-18C Hornet and E-2C Hawkeye


SAN DIEGO (Sept. 29, 2007) - An F/A-18C Hornet, F/A-18F Super Hornet and E-2C Hawkeye fly over the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS New Orleans (LPD 18) during the city’s Sea and Air Parade. The annual event, which is part of the month-long Fleet Week celebration, featured a parade of ships through San Diego Bay and flybys from Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard aircraft.

PERSIAN GULF (July 15, 2007) – An F/A-18C Hornet, assigned to the "Sunliners" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 81, lands aboard nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68). The Nimitz Strike Group and embarked Carrier Air Wing 11 are deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet conducting maritime operations and supporting troops participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
