F-22


An F-22 Raptor comes to a stop Nov. 5 on the runway at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. The F-22 underwent cold-weather testing on its breaking system, with emphasis on its ability to maneuver, stop and go on slippery surfaces. The aircraft was tested by the 411th Flight Test Squadron during a three-week deployment on incrementally low-level runway condition reading surfaces, with temperatures ranging between 37 to -13 degrees. The F-22 is from Edwards AFB, Calif.

Navy football action


ENTON, Texas (Nov. 10, 2007) Navy Midshipmen running back, Zerbin Singleton, is tackled by University of North Texas (UNT) defense during the Navy vs. UNT football game. The games final score was Navy 74 - UNT 62. The 136 points scored between Navy and North Texas sets a NCAA record for most points scored in a regulation game since the NCAA started tracking the record in 1937. The 63 combined points scored in the second quarter was also a NCAA record for points in a quarter.

USNS Alan Shepard


San Diego (Dec. 6, 2006) - After officially christening the newest resupply ship, Military Sealift Command (MSC) advanced auxiliary dry cargo/ammunition ship USNS Alan Shepard (T-AKE 3), she is launched into the San Diego Bay during a christening and launching ceremony held at the National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO). The Shepard is named after Rear Adm. Alan Bartlett Shepard, who was the first American astronaut in space and the fifth person to walk on the moon. The Shepard is the third of the USNS ships named after great explorers. Its primary mission will be to deliver ammunition, fuel, food and other supplies to combat ships at sea.

The Blue Angels


KANEOHE BAY, Hawaii (Oct. 14, 2007) - The U.S. Navy Flight demonstration team, the Blue Angels perform their delta formation during the Blues on the Bay Air Show at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. The Blue Angels fly the F/A-18A Hornet, performing approximately 30 maneuvers during the aerial demonstration lasting over an hour.

ATLANTIC (Nov. 16, 2007) USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) carrier strike group (CSG) transits through the straits of Gibraltar during the early morning hours. Truman is en route to the Central Command Area of Responsibility to support maritime security operations in the region.

CH-46E Sea Knight helicopters


PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov. 13, 2007) CH-46E Sea Knight helicopters fire chaff flares during an air power demonstration for Sailors, Marines and their friends and family aboard USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6). The ship is conducting a Tiger Cruise from Hawaii to its homeport of San Diego, and the friends and family of Sailors aboard will stay with the ship until its return home. The multi-purpose amphibious assault ship and Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group are underway for a regularly scheduled western Pacific deployment.

F/A-18C Hornet


AFGHANISTAN (Nov. 7, 2007) - An F/A-18C Hornet, attached to the "Knighthawks" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 136, tests its flare countermeasures system during sunset, just prior to beginning a Close Air Support mission in support of ground forces in Afghanistan. VFA-136 is assigned to Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1 embarked aboard USS Enterprise (CVN 65). Enterprise Carrier Strike Group is on a scheduled deployment in support of maritime operations and the global war on terrorism.
