McCain (DDG 56) fires its MK-45 5-inch gun during a live-fire exercise alongside the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) as part of a friends and family day cruise. ARABIAN SEA (Nov. 21, 2013) A Close In Weapons System (CIWS) fires during a live-fire exercise aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4). Boxer is the flagship for the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (13th MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
