Carl Vinson and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17, are on deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility supporting Valiant Shield, a U.S.-only biennial exercise focusing on the integration of joint training among U.S. forces.
