NEW YORK (Sept. 8, 2011) New York City firefighters man the rails with Marines assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 9th Regiment aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) as the ship prepares to pass the National September 11 Memorial. New York has 7.5 tons of steel in her bow recovered from the World Trade Center and is in New York City for events and ceremonies surrounding the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
