US Navy Vessels
PACIFIC OCEAN (Sept. 1, 2010) The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) performs tactical maneuvering exercises with the guided-missile frigates USS Rentz (FFG 46) and USS McCluskey (FFG 41); the guided-missile destroyers USS Stockdale (DDG 106) and USS Gridley (DDG 101); and the guided-missile cruisers USS Lake Champlain (CG 57) and USS Bunker Hill (CG 52). Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 262
Six CH-46E Sea Knight helicopters with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 262 (Reinforced), known as the Flying Tigers, approach a landing site near Apra Harbor on the island of Guam, Sept. 19. The helicopters flew from the USS Essex (LHD 2) transporting Marines of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to perform a simulated airfeild seizure in support of the MEU's Certification Exercise. The 31st MEU is holding CERTEX in Guam in conjunction with the Valiant Shield exercise already underway.

PACIFIC OCEAN (Sept. 10, 2010) An F/A-18C Hornet piloted by Cmdr. Gerald Hansen, the outgoing commanding officer of the Dambusters of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 195, launches flares after detaching from a formation at the conclusion of the in-flight change of command ceremony above the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). Hansen was relieved by Cmdr. David Culpepper during the ceremony.
