An F/A-18C Hornet launches
Sept. 26, 2006 - An F/A-18C Hornet launches from the bow as another F/A-18C Hornet, assigned to the "Sidewinders" of Strike Fighter Squadron Eight Six (VFA-86), is directed onto the steam-driven catapult aboard the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65). Enterprise and embarked Carrier Air Wing One (CVW-1) are currently on a scheduled six-month deployment in support of the Maritime Security Operations and the global war on terrorism.

USS Trenton (LPD 14)
Sept. 21, 2006 - The amphibious transport dock USS Trenton (LPD 14) prepares to moor at Naval Station Norfolk after a successful deployment. Trenton responded to Joint Task Force Lebanon while deployed, assisting over 3500 American citizens evacuate the war torn country. This is the last deployment for Trenton, after 35 years of active service, before she is decommissioned and transferred to the Indian Navy in January.

The Spanish frigate FFG Canaras
July 30, 2006 - The Spanish frigate FFG Canaras participates in a Missile exercise during the UNITAS Pacific Phase exercise. UNITAS is an annual exercise in the South American region. This year’s Pacific phase, hosted by Chile, includes navies from seven countries Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Spain and the United States. The exercise is designed to train each navy in a variety of maritime scenarios, with each operating as a component of the multinational force.

Sept. 9, 2006 - Entertainer Bill Cosby shakes hands with Navy linebacker Rob Caldwell prior to the start of the U.S. Naval Academy football game against the University of Massachusetts. Cosby attended the game as part of his visit to the academy in support of the 30th anniversary of women in Academy. Cosby served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1961, trained as a hospital corpsman and worked mostly with veterans of the Korean War.

Navy football action
Sept. 2, 2006 - U.S. Naval Academy Midshipman fullback Adam Ballard (22) is chased by East Carolina defenders Jarrett Wiggins (52) and C.J. Wilson (95) in the first half of play at Navy - Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Navy triumphed 28 to 23 over East Carolina University. Ballard gained 97 yards on 13 carries and put Navy ahead with a 16-yard run to cap an opening drive in the second half. This is the first time the Midshipmen of Navy have played the Pirates of East Carolina.
